Number 6 in Numerology: Meaning and Significance
The number 6 in numerology is the first perfect number: the sum of its proper divisors 1+2+3 equals the number itself. The digit 6 (the six) is traditionally called the number of harmony, love, family, and responsibility, but the associations differ across schools: in the Chaldea…
Number 6 in the pythagorean : method and number meanings tradition
In the Pythagorean tradition, six is called the hexad; the available interpretation comes through Agrippa (16th century), who synthesized ancient sources: "six is the number of perfection, for it is the most perfect in nature, in the whole series of numbers from one to ten." The sum of its parts — half (3), a third (2), and a sixth (1) — fills the number exactly, "neither exceeding nor falling short"; this fullness is absent in other numbers.
According to Agrippa, the Pythagoreans associated six with generation and marriage and called it the "ladder of the world": the world was created by the number six, and creation was completed on the sixth day — "and God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good."
Six is also the number of humanity (created on the sixth day) and redemption (Christ suffered on the sixth day); Agrippa sees "a great affinity between the number six and the cross, labor, service" and recalls the six working days, the six years of sowing the land and serving a master, and the six wings of cherubim.
In Agrippa's "scale of six," correspondences are collected: six circles of the celestial sphere (arctic, antarctic, two tropics, equator, ecliptic), six "wandering planets" — Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, without the Sun — six substantial qualities of the elements, six differences of position, six natural services (magnitude, color, figure, interval, position, motion), six faces of a cube, and six tones of harmony.
In the exemplary world, it corresponds to six-letter names of God (אל גבור אלוהים); in the intelligible world, six orders of angels not sent to lower beings; in the microcosm (human being), six degrees (reason, memory, feeling, motion, life, essence); in the infernal world, six demons — "authors of all misfortunes."
The modern Pythagorean method assigns values 1–9 to letters based on their position in the alphabet, reducing numbers by adding digits. Agrippa applied arithmancy differently: A=1…I=9, K=10…S=90, T=100 and so on by hundreds (the letters U, J, W were not then considered part of the alphabet).
Caveat: there are no direct primary sources on the "hexad" of Pythagoras available in the open; there is no unified "official" Pythagorean assignment of six to a specific planet — in Agrippa it encompasses a group of six planets.

Number 6 in the chaldean : method and number meanings tradition
According to the Chaldean school (Cheiro), "the number 6 in symbolism means the planet Venus." The Chaldean correspondence table in Cheiro: Sun 1, Moon 2, Jupiter 3, Uranus 4, Mercury 5, Venus 6, Neptune 7, Saturn 8, Mars 9.
Cheiro himself acknowledges that the origin of the "Chaldean and Hebrew alphabet" "is lost in antiquity"; no direct Chaldean texts have survived — what we have is a 19th–20th century reconstruction, an interpretation of one school.
According to Cheiro, "people of number 6" are those born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th of any month; the influence is strengthened in the "House of Six" (April 20 – May 20/27, September 21 – October 20/27).
Number 6 in the kabbalistic : methods and the meaning of numbers tradition
In gematria — a method of analyzing words and phrases by the numerical values of letters (alongside notarikon and temurah) — the letter vav (ו) has the value 6; words with equal sums of letter values are considered symbolically connected.
The term appears in rabbinic literature from the 2nd century CE; it is especially widespread in Kabbalah, among Ashkenazi mystics of the 12th–13th centuries. The practice dates back to antiquity: an Assyrian inscription from the 8th century BC (Sargon II) records that the wall of Khorsabad was built to a length of 16,283 cubits "in accordance with the numerical value of his name."
The sixth of the ten sefirot of Kabbalah is Tiferet ("Beauty, Splendor"): it corresponds to the chest of Adam-Kadmon and forms the ethical triad of the "soul world" with Chesed (Mercy) and Gevurah (Judgment). Directly equating "the number 6" with Tiferet is only valid as a parallel: classical Kabbalah operates with ten sefirot, and open sources do not provide a separate "numerological" teaching about six.
Number 6 in the vedic : methods and number meanings tradition
In popular Vedic practice, traced back to Jyotish (Indian astrology), numbers 1–9 are correlated with the planets of the Navagraha: in this scheme, six corresponds to Venus (Sanskrit: Shukra). Traditionally, the Vedic number 6 is said to describe love, beauty, harmony, comfort, and relationships — the domains governed by Venus. Caveat: in classical Jyotish, numerology is not distinguished as a separate discipline (there exists only a subdivision of horary astrology — Ankajyotisha, "numerical astrology"), and the "number — planet" table is a particular interpretation of popular 20th–21st century practice, not documented in encyclopedic sources.
Number 6 in the chinese : numbers, lo shu, and the kua number tradition
In the Chinese tradition, six is auspicious for two independent reasons. In the Luoshu Square — an ancient 3×3 magic square where the sum along any row, column, or diagonal equals 15 — six is one of the four even numbers occupying the corners and sits in the lower-right corner, opposite four (pairs of opposite cells, including 4 and 6, sum to 10). By popular homophony, the number 6 (六, liù) in Mandarin sounds like "smooth" (溜, liū), while in Cantonese it sounds like "prosperity, fortune" (祿, 樂, lok6); therefore, by tradition, six is considered lucky, especially in business and commerce, and along with eight it is one of the luckiest numbers in China.
Number 6 in the mayan : tzolkin calendar, kins, and solar seals tradition
There is no evidence of a numerology of destiny numbers among the ancient Maya: what exists is the Tzolkin calendar system (260 days = 13 × 20), in which days are numbered from 1 to 13 (tone), and 20 day names form a separate cycle. In the modern interpretation (reconstruction by José Argüelles, the Dreamspell calendar, 1990), the number 6 corresponds to the sixth tone — "Rhythmic" (in other translations — "Rhythmic"); by tradition, this tone is associated with rhythm, balance, and organization. Caveat: the names of the 13 tones are part of the 20th-century Dreamspell system and are not documented in encyclopedic sources; historically, only the principle of counting numbers 1–13 in the Tzolkin is confirmed.
Number 6 in the tibetan : mewa, parkha, and the calendar tradition
In the Tibetan tradition, numbers 1–9 are the numbers of mewas, symbols of the birth year, not "destiny numbers" in the Western sense: the system is different, and the calculation follows the Tibetan calendar rather than the date of birth. Mewa 6 is not the same as the six of Western numerology — only the numbering coincides. If your mewa by birth year is 6, see the "Mewa 6" card and the mewa calculator.
By tradition, mewa 6 is white, and its element is iron. Together with mewas 3 and 9, it belongs to the group of animals Ox, Dragon, Sheep, Dog. According to the text of the "White Emerald" as retold by the Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia, the possessor of mewa 6 is traditionally not rich, keeps two houses, has few descendants, is strong and clever, but ultimately remains alone; life expectancy is about 70 years, with five obstacles. For pacification, a gTsugtor ceremony and a statue of the spiritual teacher are traditionally recommended.
Disclaimer: the information is based on the traditional text "White Emerald" as retold by the Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia; it is symbolic, not a literal prophecy.
