Pythagorean Numerology

Definition: a modern system tracing itself back to the teachings of Pythagoras: letters of the alphabet are assigned values 1–9, and numbers are reduced to single digits. It should not be confused with ancient Pythagoreanism — it is a simplified version of the isopsephic technique of pythmenes; according to Aristotle, the Pythagorean tradition practiced isopsephy.
