Numerology
Definition: the belief in religious, esoteric, or mystical connections between numbers and a person's future or character; also the study of numerical values of letters (gematria, etc.). Before the 20th century, the discipline was called arithmancy; the term "numerology" in English is attested from approximately 1907. From a scientific standpoint, numerology is superstition and pseudoscience: numerological divination was popular among early mathematicians but "is not considered mathematical knowledge today."
