Chinese Numerology (Luo Shu)

Definition: two layers: homophonic number symbolism (word sound) and "Luo Shu" — a 3×3 magic square connected to the I Ching and feng shui (the latter belonging to the feng shui school, not the homophonic tradition). 6 and 8 are widely considered lucky, 4 unlucky (it sounds like "death" in Cantonese); buildings skip floors and rooms with 4, as well as 13 and 14. 8 sounds like "prosperity"; the 2008 Olympic ceremony began on 08.08.08 at 8:08:08 PM; 9 is historically the imperial number ("longevity").
